One Portwall Square is a new office development in the heart of Bristol constructed by Skanska, a client we have worked with previously. With an emphasis on energy efficiency and sustainability, the building is targeting a BREEAM Excellent accreditation, for which the glazing package we have provided will help to achieve this certification.

Curtain Walling was manufactured from the Technal MX 52 CAPPED system complete with Technal FY65 top hung insert vents in jet black creating an impressive façade whilst also complimenting the surrounding buildings. The doors were manufactured utilising the Technal STII system along with the Smart VisoGlide Plus sliding system to the balconies and an automated pair of swinging doors to the main entrance, both of which are located on the south elevation of the building.

Site conditions meant that glass for the curtain walling and insert vents had to be distributed from the roof of the building using a crane and vacuum lifter. Careful co-ordination from our Contracts Manager ensured that the work packages were installed safely and to programme.

We assisted Skanska in reducing the project costs to keep within budget. We achieved this by reducing the originally specified fire-rated north elevation to standard glazing complete with fire curtains to keep the original opening vents that were calculated within the ventilation strategy.
